Getting the Truth Book
We are excited to announce that Joe Koenig, our professional lead investigator into Walter Reca as D.B. Cooper, will soon be releasing an in-depth look at his findings, entitled Getting the Truth: I am D.B. Cooper.
The legend of D. B. Cooper is known worldwide as one of the most daring and creative robberies in the history of aviation. On November 24, 1971, D.B. Cooper hijacked a 727 on a short flight from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA demanding 4 parachutes, $200,000, and the plane refueled and flown to Mexico. When he jumped out mid-flight, he was never seen again and his true identity has remained a secret for decades. When presented with the manuscript that would eventually become D.B. Cooper & Me, which purported to solve one of the greatest unsolved crimes in U.S. history, the staff at Principia Media immediately understood that an accurate and objective investigation into the facts and witness testimony was critical.
After Principia’s initial investigation, they realized that this project required the assistance of a private investigator with impeccable integrity and excellent interrogation skills. They immediately turned to Joe Koenig, author of Getting the Truth: Discover the Real Message, Know Truth, Know Deception.
Joe possessed the credentials and unique skill set required to assist in this investigation. Joe retired from the Michigan State Police after 26 years of service and has over 50 years of investigative experience in both public and private sectors. He was the lead investigator of the James R. Hoffa disappearance case and has investigated homicides, organized crime, financial crimes, narcotics, and public corruption. His experience includes past presidency of the Michigan National Academy Associates and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Most importantly in this case, which relies heavily on written correspondence, audio tapes, and personal witness testimony, Joe is a pioneer in the field of forensic linguistics.
Now, for the first time, Joe is releasing the details of his investigation to the public in Getting the Truth: I am D.B. Cooper. Within these pages, Joe analyzes the 3+ hours of audio tapes between Walter Reca (aka D. B. Cooper) and his best friend Carl Laurin. Joe spent several hours interviewing Laurin and his wife Loretta, who had listened in on many of the conversations where Reca admitted to the hijacking, at their home in Florida. He interviewed the only eyewitness to ever claim to see Cooper immediately after his landing - Jeff Osiadacz (aka Cowboy), a former law enforcement officer in Roslyn, WA. Joe also investigated and analyzed Reca’s niece, Lisa Story, to whom Reca confessed not only the skyjacking but his international travels and adventures afterwards.
In Getting the Truth: I am D.B Cooper, Joe states:
What conclusion did he draw from this investigation?
Does Joe believe Reca is Cooper?
We’ll let him tell you in Getting the Truth: I am D.B. Cooper.
